The laws of nature offered irresistible evidence for purpose or design. Let’s look at a machine. It has its own purpose; it does what it’s designed to do. Bacteria and viruses do what they do. All insects, aquatics, birds, and animals behave like they’re supposed to. Every part of their body works in conjunction with the other parts and every part has its purpose. Ecologically, every living organism works in conjunction with other entities and every part has its purpose. Why do cosmologists have a hard time acknowledging purpose?
The planets, stars, and galaxies also do what they do according to the laws we have discovered. A universe is a massive machine that functions according to laws that govern all movement. And if all things in the cosmos are bio-friendly, it’s quite a task to prove there’s no purpose or meaning to the universe. Each link in the evolution of the universe was necessary for our existence, just like certain events on Earth had to occur in order for humankind to develop. It looked like the universe was set up for life to arrive.
All such developments were governed by a fine balance of the fundamental forces of nature. The interplay of these natural laws throughout the universe was “just right” for the development of intelligent life.
In other words, due to the fluke hypothesis of creation, everything just happened to be right for life to come into being.
However, scientists believe that the universe’s formation was merely an accident.
Even though no data exists to support the fluke hypothesis, modern physics and cosmology reject teleology because of the possible implications of allowing the guiding hand of God into the universe. However, it tends to be an anti-god dogma rather than science.
