WHY PREACHING IS DIFICULT

Why is it difficult to provide the right education ?

I came up with three reasons why providing the right education is difficult.

It provokes people to change perspective and identity

  • It provokes us to think who we are as a person.
  • What we value in our life
  • Instigate us to reconsider our priorities.

Ideas about our life and our life philosophy are important; they influence our actions. We use our understanding of the past to make decisions about the present to create the future we desire tomorrow. What we value in our life will certainly dictate our actions and resources flows in that direction.

2. It requires commitment

Prabhupada always emphasized that the preacher should practice what he preaches, and Lord Chaitanya himself said, ‘Become perfect and then preach.’ The actual Sanskrit (apani acari bhakti karila pracara) is translated in Adi-lila 4.41 as, ‘One’s behavior must be exactly in accord with one’s preaching.’

3. It focuses or stimulates intellect and ego. Mind and senses are very fickle in nature and the whole entertainment focuses on mind and senses only.

We can see very well that people can spend a good amount of time on TVs, web series, video games, etc. but they don’t read. It is because it does not ask for the above three.

Due to massive commercial exploitations, sex is thrust upon us from all directions -TVs, theaters, internet, magazines and billboards. SEX is the most sold product. Human culture has become sexualized in the last several decades and has no precedent in world history.

We all are born brought to this sexually incited culture. It is very difficult to lead a virtuous life, and even one knows the reality he can’t resist the blazing fire of sexually inflammable culture.

But the Hari Nam has that potency that at any stage of decay it can uplift one from the nescience. As Srila Prabhupada along with his few devotees marched towards Tompkins Square Park and introduced the sankirtan movement to the public for the first time in the western world. The rest (as they say) is history. People there were involved in all sorts of nonsense activities from illicit sex to LSD to drugs.

Though right education is tough but in the shed of HARINAM Sankirtana it will last its impact on the wandering soul.

As said in Bhagavad Gita, that the living entities are the eternal fragmental part of the Krishna.

mamaivāṁśo jīva-loke

jīva-bhūtaḥ sanātanaḥ

manaḥ-ṣaṣṭhānīndriyāṇi

prakṛti-sthāni karṣati …… (BG 15.7)

And as soon as the name of their supreme father is enchanted, the conditioned souls are attracted.

In this connection, Srila Prabhupada describes how in the Jarikhanda forest, Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu propagated the sankirtan movement even amongst the wild forest animals. Srila Prabhupada goes on to say that even the wildest of animals can live peacefully and happily, what then to speak of human beings.

Thus by tapping the power of divine sound, uncovers our latent spiritual consciousness, gives us direct perception of the soul and ultimately helps us reclaim our spiritual birthright to an eternal life of knowledge and bliss.
